One things that your characters may or may not know about at character creation is the existence of Shard Hunters. There are legends of shards of power in the places of old in the world. These shards of crystal are rumored to be the manifestation of concentrated amounts of the raw power of the prime forces that created the world.
Many shard hunters are simply opportunists. The shards themselves, if found would be tremendously valuable, and thus they are hunted by those who would turn them for great profit. Other shard hunters are extensions of more organized sects… with shard hunters as extensions of their ploys for increased power and influence. Most all shard hunters work in teams as the dangers that they face to aquire these ancient treasures require more than the might of one alone.
*Your character can play as a shard hunter. *
This character should have ranks in knowledge dungeneering and history and maybe knowledge religion. A fledgeling shard hunter could have some or none of these ranks and be just starting out.
This is mostly for flavor and tie in to what is going on in the world but if you would like to work up some mechanical bonuses for being a shard hunter for a certain cost you may do so.
If you would like to take “shard hunter advantage” as your magical item at character creation you may do so. Doing so would grant you 1 rank in 3 of 4 of these skills: knowledge dungeneering, knowledge history, knowledge religion, disarm traps (is disarm traps the right skill name?)
