Glim and others move on ahead, but pretty lady and scary man return to village to protect and get clothes. Deeper in cave we find sleeping places of smelly dwarves and Glim find shiny drinks. We found tunnels blocked by rocks. We moved rocks and looked in, but see nothing. Eventually scary man return, but pretty lady stay back in village.

With Scary man back, we go further into tunnels into pitch black cave. Hear scary dwarves again, with rainbow man and another person on top of rock tied up! One of dwarves have people held by rope, ready to pull into water, but scary man throw spear at rope, breaking it! People still fall into water, and when Glim take a close look, mage friend is other person *grunt whoop* ! Glim must save friend! I ran and jumped into water, clawing away the ropes as giant dwarf tried hitting Glim! Glim to small and fast for him *happy click* and Glim kill dwarf with claws.

Glim and new friends kill all smelly dwarves and free people! Glim happy to find friend alive! *whoop click* Glim missed friend! With dwarves dead and people saved, Glim return to village with friend to tell may-ore. may-ore was sleeping, but surprised and happy to see Glim and friend alive! Invited to second-meal come sun-rise. Glim talk with mage friend a bit then return to tav-run for sleep, Glim very tired

Next morning Glim better, not so tired. Glim tell may-ore whole story of tunnels, smelly dwarves, and fighting! Glim was very *grunt * excited, so may-ore have to calm Glim a few times to understand. We have food with may-ore again, this time another pretty lady was with may-ore, another of of the druids, like one of new friends. She say other druids fighting monsters, many have died. At same time, more humans come to may-ore house and say another village was being attacked! Glim not know what to do, but Glim will follow mage friend says. Glim missed Mage friend, don’t want to lose him again!

Day 2 – GA-DD00-T

GA-DD00-T impulsively wants to trim hedges when he is anxious, worried, or wishes to meditate. It was while performing this task he was struck and gained sentience, though he does not know it. Because of this, his prophetic visions come to him when he trims more often than otherwise. This night, after meeting with the Mayor, was the perfect time for meditation. After a few minutes of contemplative trimming, he stops. The air became charged, and a faint crackling can be heard. GA-DD00-T’s eyes flash bright yellow like lanterns in the night.

You’ve come a long way, Godot.

“Godot? You’ve never called me by that name before.”

That’s what your friends call you now. You have a name. Not just a designation.

“They’re not my friends. They call me ‘robot’ or ‘healbot’. I’m nothing but a tool to them.”

Merely terms of endearment. They value you and your opinion.

“Only Maxim has ever called me friend.”

Give them time. This is why Maxim sent you here, instead of going himself. He trusts you, just as your new friends will come to.

“We’ll see. Why have you actually come to me?”

Tell me about what happened last night.

“I think you know about it already.”

I want to hear it from you.

“Fine. Where should I start?”

Start with the lair, after the bridge.

“Okay. So the short, hairy men went further into the cave after we chased them into the sleeping quarters. Scary-Jax left to get his ‘accoutrements’ while Dominick and his animal scouted about. Some of the boulders covered passages. It wasn’t long until Scary-Jax returned and said there were spyders(?) behind one of them so we left it covered. We eventually tracked them down to a big cave with a river running through it. There, on a cliff, was the ‘Bar-man’ as Twitchy-Glim called him, and another person I did not know. Our marks were on the other side, one of them holding the rope which bound the captors. A trap!”

I see. The druegar have gotten clever.

“Yes. Anyway, Scary-Jax managed to sever the rope with his spear, though the two captives fell into the river anyway. Twitchy-Glim recognized the other one, went crazy and dove into the river. Odd thing, that one. Regardless, we were beset on all sides by these cackling monsters. They magically grew, though I do not know how. Twitchy-Glim managed to recover the captives from the river while everyone else did battle. I tried my summon spell, but it was just swatted away. I’ll have to practice it. I healed to the best of my ability and we eventually won. We found the rest of the townspeople and led them out. I think Scary-Jax destroyed some magical artefacts as well. Shame.”

He is brash, but he means well. It was for the best.

“The next morning we all met to eat(?) the Mayor (or so Twitchy-Glim said) for lunch. Luckily, it was just a meeting to describe what happened. He seemed very happy to know all the townspeople returned. A couple of other things were brought up here at once as well.”

Oh? How so?

“First, Scary-Jax recovered a note from the cackling things. Some riddle about Vitosa, not much of a riddle to you, I’ll bet. I tried to be helpful and recite everything I knew about…her but only the Mayor really seemed to appreciate it. Also, a druid(?) was there. Dominick’s kinswoman perhaps? Fell beasts have hit their people hard. In addition, a similar event happened to a neighboring town, Brookdale. I- We must help them. It’s just a matter of the order.”

That’s everything. Thank you for the re-telling.

“I still fail the see the reason.”

You will, in time. Time is something you will never lack.

“Maxim has called that both a blessing and a curse. Are we done?”

No. I have a question: Why do you speak in that prose to those whom you meet?

“Maxim says people can’t get context because my face doesn’t move. This helps them.”

Your voice has more sway than you know. Try it like your friends next time.

“Alright. Now are we done?”

No. I have one last thing to show you…

GA-DD00-T’s eyes faded, and silence filled the night. Before him was the hedge, meticulously trimmed and complete. He shuddered, remembering what he saw. His deepest regret at that second was that his metal face was unable to weep.

Camila Tenderfoot (The little Halfling girl that walked out with Jax)
55 Years in the future.

“Kid’s did I ever tell you the time I was saved by Jax Fullbuster?” Camila began at the table with her grandkids.

“The Jax Fullbuster?” One asked.

“The Desert Bear?” Another questioned.

“The one and same my dears.” Camila said while the two little ones sat in her lap. Two other sat in front of her wide-eyes waiting. They love Gammie Cam’s stories. Most are from her time as an adventure, but the one before at good to. “It started one night when my dad, your great grandpa, and I were walking from closing the market. Out of nowhere we were being carried away. I was but a little girl only 10 at the time.”

One of the little ones sitting on the floor in front of Camila look scared, her eyes were so big you could see the white all around “Who was it Gammie?”

“I’m getting there child, be patient.” Camila chidded. “It was a clan of Duergar who was looking for something in the old ruin beneath the city. They had taken many of us in the city. Some I knew, other I didn’t. We were down there for almost two weeks digging and searching.” Camila closed her eyes at the pain of the memory. “The Duergar are insane. They treated us very badly.”

“Oh no.” One in her lap said.

“We started to lose track of the days while we were down there. There was an underground river for water, but nothing but rats for food. It was terrible.” Camila said. “It was late, or early who could really tell. The group of us down there had just been put away after digging for hours. A pair of Duergar had just returned with a sack. It wasn’t until later that we found out it was Old man Rainbow. He and another person, a Magi if I recall, had been tied up on a outcropping and pulled by a rope into the water.”

“Why them Gammie Cam?” The older of the four asked.

“No idea child. I didn’t make sense to anyone. The mayor at the time said it was for their amusement.” Cam told them. "Jax and his friends showed up just then. They were following the Duergar, Jax heard them take Old Man Rainbow in the middle of the night. This was just after he and his friend fought of a clan of Routanga.

“Jax, Dom the Druid, Glim the Magi Rager, Godot the Oracle, and Our current Mayor Ta’an Fear. All rushed in. We could see what was happening from where we were but we were all too scared to do anything. Jax and his friends didn’t notice there were some Duergar that were going to get a drop on them. They were all too focused on Old Man Rainbow and the Magi. They were tied to a rope that was in the hands of the Duergar leader.

“Jax, trying to think quickly, through his spear at the rope. By the Gods he hit it.” Cam exclaimed.

“No, he didn’t” The older one said in disbelief.

“I swear it is so child.” She said playfully tapped the child on the nose. “But it didn’t help, the silly magi lost his balance when the rope was cut. Old Man Rainbow couldn’t hold them both up and into the water they fell.” One of the kids in Camila lap gasped. "They were fine child. Glim managed to save them both, while fending off one of the Duergar. However it wasn’t easy. Because the Duergar all began to grow, to the size of an ogre. Dominik, his cat, and Ta’an manager to keep the group from getting surprised by the two Duergar they didn’t see right away. Jax rushed ahead to take on the rest, including the leader.

“The fight was fast and they manager to save us all. Jax carried me out of the caves on his shoulders. He and I sat outside until Great Grandpa made his way out.

“Jax and the other had lunch the following day with the old mayor and from there left to go help someone else.” Camila took a sip of water as she finished her story.

“Who did they help next Gammie Cam?” The final child had spoken up.

“You know child, I don’t recall. It was either the Druids tribes in the forest, or the people of Bookdale.”

I love that you stay in first person with the broken common, and the click whoops, and the perspective that he has. :)

Session 2 - The Duergar Tunnels

It’s a nice change of pace for me as a player. I usually play characters that have very high critical thinking skills, so it’s fun to have a character that doesn’t. I’m still trying to come up with more “noises” that he can make. Not sure how to show them in text.
